Position Details

• Pay Range: $25.70 per hour
• Deadline: November 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

The Township of Stone Mills is a lower-tier municipality with a population of approximately 7,800 residents located in central Lennox and Addington County. The Township is accepting applications for one Truck Driver / Labourer position for the winter season.

Reporting to the Public Works Manager, this position is responsible for plowing, snow removal, and winter maintenance duties on municipal and county roads. Duties include operating assigned DZ Class vehicles and equipment, general labour-intensive construction duties, chainsaw operation, and heavy equipment operation and/or maintenance work. The successful candidate will be required to fill in on occasional weekend and holiday shifts as needed. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.

Qualifications

• A valid Ontario Class DZ driver's licence is required to operate assigned Township vehicles and equipment; a Class AZ licence may be considered at the Manager's discretion.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Previous experience operating a loader, heavy equipment, winter plow equipment, and tandem axle dump trucks (GVW up to 60,000 lbs) is considered an asset.
• Considerable knowledge of truck driving techniques as applied to general maintenance work.
• Good public relations skills and communication are essential.
• Previous experience with detailed tracking and filing of log sheets.
• Ability to perform routine servicing, cleaning, and minor running repairs to assigned vehicles as required.
• Willingness to complete training courses as required by the Public Works Manager.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in adverse winter weather conditions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 kg (55 lbs) unassisted.
• Ability to stand, walk, and navigate on uneven, icy, or snow-covered surfaces.
• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle frequently throughout the shift.
