Position Details

Summary Of Position

The Fire Chief is responsible for the overall administration, planning, direction, and leadership of all functions of the Fire Department, including departmental administration, public fire safety education, fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency rescue services, and the supervision and leadership of departmental personnel, in accordance with applicable municipal by-laws and governing legislation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive firefighting experience and 3-5 years of leadership experience.
• Post-secondary diploma in Fire Service-related discipline and a graduate of the Ontario Fire College Company Officer Program, and/or Fire Prevention Officer program, Trainer Facilitator or equivalent would be assets.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, effective communication (including media and public speaking), resourcefulness, attention to detail, adaptability, problem solving, strategic thinking, decision-making, organization and multi-tasking, time management, and maintaining confidentiality required.
